Affirmative Action Presidentials

The first affirmation action president was so successful, the Democratic Party is fixing to do it again.

Of course,  Mr Obama is an affirmative action wonder. He has accomplished nothing aside from getting elected (which he does very well.) He had accomplished nothing when he was elected.  Anyone who has taught in a college or university in America since 1980  recognizes the type: Speaks easily, looks good in a suit at the Dean’s party, good manners, easy smile, easy laugh, appears “compassionate” and intelligent. Can’t let go of the conversation lest some moron ask him a question. He is intelligent but he does not know shit. He has not done the assignment; he has never done any assignment, not once. He  always manages nevertheless, somehow. No instructor, no one wants the shame, the utter embarrassment of flunking him, even the shame of not electing him (to something and/or other such a a law review position. -Yes, that’s elective.).  Beside, it’s hard to hurt his feelings deliberately because he is companionable, genuinely so.

Of course, this is an affirmative action president. That’s why he won’t fling his undergraduate grades in our faces, in the faces of  racist deniers like me, as we so richly deserve. Plus, after a while, he came to believe that he really deserved most of what he was getting. My retired professor’s guess is that his grades are not catastrophic. I would bet they are only mediocre, with many “Is”(incomplete) and even more “Ws” (withdrew). If he cannot show a 3.98 GPA, he would rather hide the real figure because he feels like a 4.00.  A GPA of modest but still honorable 2.60? Not good enough given his social standing, given his popularity, given how often he is feted by the elite (say at  “Martha’s Vineyard” where he vacations).

Pres. Obama was not lying when he told you could keep this and you could keep that under the new health care system. He just hadn’t done this assignment this time around either. He actually thought you could keep this and that. Frankly, who would fault this charming man for not reading 2,000-plus pages describing the bill he signed into law? Unfortunately, his entourage  had not done it  either, or many parts of it. (Birds of a feather….)  The current launching disaster is not a disaster of poor technology as the mainstream press presents it. It’s what happens when you let amateurs radically alter the economy without advice from strong-willed specialists  (specialists with gonads). Would I have done better? Probably not; I might have done worse.  I am only a college professor.  (At least, I am the real thing, not a part-time adjunct. Wow, that was bitchy!)  But then, I would not have tried anything so big. If I had  tried anything one tenth that size, I would have remembered that the market usually does wonders  unraveling complexity. Almost certainly, I would have started with something small.

But, of course, I would have used my considerable influence right after the first election to make health insurance completely transportable. I would have used my power to transform the artificially fragmented US health insurance market into a single one. I mean a market where the forces of competition could be unleashed fully. This could have been done overnight with a single sentence that everyone could understand handwritten on a small piece of paper . Oh well, I am a dreamer who dreams too big dreams!

The current Obamacare*disaster is so horrible that the single fact that he did not take that simple measure  has been forgotten. I regret it,  because it’s a really good measure of intent.

Now, the affirmative experiment with a (pretend) African-American was such a success that the Democratic Party is preparing a sequel. It’s thinking heavily of affirmative action for the largest ever persecuted minority, so large that it’s a majority: women. And if you doubt that it’s persecuted, keep this in mind: According to feminist orthodoxy, every single heterosexual sex act is rape. And why, women who have most of the votes and most of the money in America have not yet elected a female president?  That’s a mean question, another one!

The next affirmative action candidate is Hillary Clinton, of course, a politician who  also has never achieved anything on her own. She is the  failed secretary of state whose most memorable phrase is: “What does it matter now?”  about her subordinates being assassinated in Libya, on her watch. Of course, she deserves to become President of the United States because her husband is a rat. And she is no less qualified than the current president anyway.

All  this is  a sad commentary on the  gross political/intellectual incompetence of the Republican Party. I suspect its brain is frozen by political correctness. Don’t blame me, obviously. And Sarah Palin looks better and better. That’s although she is  not a real woman, of course. Real women are  on the compassionate left!

*Calling it Obamacare is not evil. I heard the president claim the name with my own ears. That was about six months ago.

I am currently looking for publication outlets for my book of early memoirs: I Used to Be French: an Immature Autobiography. In spite of its title, the book is less about me than about the quaint world in which I grew up, post-World War Two France. It’s good pop-sociology, I would say. It makes readers smile and laugh.

About Jacques Delacroix

I write short stories, current events comments, and sociopolitical essays, mostly in English, some in French. There are other people with the same first name and same last name on the Internet. I am the one who put up on Amazon in 2014: "I Used to Be French: an Immature Autobiography" and also: "Les pumas de grande-banlieue." To my knowledge, I am the only Jacques Delacroix with American and English scholarly publications. In a previous life, I was a teacher and a scholar in Organizational Theory and in the Sociology of Economic Development. (Go ahead, Google me!) I live in the People’s Green Socialist Republic of Santa Cruz, California.

Hillary also punches the physical disability ticket with her fainting spells. Fact is, if the old guard GOP bunch succeeds in nominating Jeb Bush or Chris Christie type, she will win like Obama won. Hard to believe it’s possible.

  2. Bruce: Who would you nominate?

  3. Bruce says:

Rand Paul and Ted Cruz. The Left already has the establishment Republicans convinced they’re not electable. Just like Reagan did not have an ice cubes chance in hell. Can you imagine the bureaucrats running out of Washington like rats from a burning barn? My dream anyway…
