Surgeon General Gone Missing!

I wonder why we have not heard at all from the Surgeon General of the Unites States in this Ebola kind of crisis, (kind of). I thought he was the chief medical officer of the whole country. Is there something pertaining to him that is being hidden from us?

(His medical school grades?)

Is he in hiding?

Just asking; I swear I don’t know anything.

Update: Oops, my mistake! Follow the informative thread below.

About Jacques Delacroix

I write short stories, current events comments, and sociopolitical essays, mostly in English, some in French. There are other people with the same first name and same last name on the Internet. I am the one who put up on Amazon in 2014: "I Used to Be French: an Immature Autobiography" and also: "Les pumas de grande-banlieue." To my knowledge, I am the only Jacques Delacroix with American and English scholarly publications. In a previous life, I was a teacher and a scholar in Organizational Theory and in the Sociology of Economic Development. (Go ahead, Google me!) I live in the People’s Green Socialist Republic of Santa Cruz, California.

There is no Surgeon General right now. Obama nominated Dr. Vivek Murthy over a year ago, but because he supported gun registration the GOP and the NRA blocked the nomination. He is also young, but has great credentials and a Harvard education, so young does not bother me. It is on hold right now. There is an interim Admiral somewhere standing in, but I cannot remember his name right now. Obama has made no move to nominate him for the permanent job and he has little or no power until he is nominated and confirmed. Of course everyone blames everyone else. The short of it is, however, the NRA was allowed through it’s lobby and GOP support to block the nominee, in my humble opinion. Regina Benjamin resigned in 2013, leaving us with a vacancy. I could leave you a link but there are hundreds and with the same amount of opinions about what should be and who is at fault. I leave it to you to sort through that mess!

  2. Thanks, John. I stand educated. I remembered Benjamin but I vaguely knew she was not around.

All hail Ron Klain! He’s not a surgeon or a general but he is a Tsar!
